Do you reflect?
Stop, pause and create space to think?
Take stock of how your plans and intentions have gone?
Refocus your attention for the next part of the year?
Make iterations and changes as needed?
🙋 Does this process create any new questions, thoughts or inspiration?
I have a few different ways that I reflect and one part of my cadence is a quarterly reflection (and a massive end of year one that is coming up next week!)
💫 Part of it is a review of my monthly and quarterly reflections
💫 Part of it is a deep dive into some bigger questions
💫 Part of it is a review of my word and goals of the year
💫 It all leads to refreshed goal setting and focus on growth.
Now, my reflection cadence is a learned behaviour and a habit that sometimes I really need to push myself into. When I’m time poor or feel like things haven’t gone well, it’s so challenging to answer the tough questions.
But…..WOW! These session are gold!
I’ve found some of the benefits to be:
🪞Self awareness and growth | I’m my own personal coach – understanding where I’ve come from, celebrating progress and achievements and looking for areas to improve.
🪞Learnings | I have a whole bunch of insights that I often capture, but these sessions are a chance to plan some execution around them.
🪞 Adjusting my goals | Often things can veer a long way from the path I set at the start of the year (after all none of us have a crystal ball!), so it’s a chance to make sure goals are still relevant in line with progress and changing circumstances.
🪞 Accountability | This is one of the hardest right Documenting things and then assessing against it is really difficult. Being accountable to myself is incredibly difficult – put where a huge amount of personal and professional development comes from.
🪞Clarity | It’s a chance to clear all the “stuff” from my head, organise my thoughts that I’ve captured over the period and distill and express what’s going on for me. This process creates an aura of calmness and clear perspective. (Disclaimer: Mostly – sometimes it really does create more questions than answers!!!)
🗣️I’d love to know if you have a cadence or rhythm of reflection and what it looks like.
❓Do you have an end of year reflection booked in? What is an action you can take today to make that happen?
🗨️If you don’t – what is the bigger barrier or challenge you are facing to do this? Or do you just not want to?
